You will not want to miss this 1-hour CE event with our special guest speaker, Dr. Shelly Harrell (psychologist, trainer, tenured full professor at Pepperdine University's Graduate School of Education specializing in culturally-informed wellness and resilience-oriented interventions with 30+ years experience)! This presentation will explore key considerations in utilizing mindfulness and acceptance-based therapies with clients who are Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC). Sociocultural and sociopolitical contextual factors related to race and racism will be emphasized as they arise in both the content and process of therapy. Development of a collaborative, antiracist therapeutic alliance, delivery of culturally-and contextually-relevant psychoeducation, and cultural adaptation considerations for acceptance, mindfulness, and values interventions will be discussed.
