Event Description

This introductory FAP workshop will introduce attendees to the behavioral principles that underlie a process that can lead to genuineness and interpersonal intimacy. While the essential rules can be quite simple, the outcome for skilled FAP practitioners can become incredibly nuanced and applicable to a wide range of clinical needs.

Recent empirical support for FAP, as well as debates over the initial model and the Awareness, Courage, and Love (ACL) model for training and implementation, will be reviewed. Participants will have an opportunity to briefly practice in this workshop with partners, and will learn activities that facilitate the rapid assessment and generation of practice behaviors in their client's interpersonal challenges.

Learning Objectives

At the end of this workshop, participants will be able to:

  1. Describe the five rules of FAP
  2. Evaluate their own impact on clients in the room
  3. Execute courageous, evocative tasks in session
