About the Event
Hosted by ACBS San Francisco Chapter
Lead byL Dr. Nehjla Mashal
The purpose of this training is to describe the current American Psychological Association (APA) Multicultural Guidelines and how to apply them to Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) psychotherapeutic processes. APA has updated guidelines for providing services in a more culturally-informed manner. Intersectionality has been gaining increasing visibility as an important concept in mental health care. Given ACT’s emphasis on context, it is especially suited to explore client’s experiences through an intersectional lens. This workshop combines didactic lecture, short audio clips, case presentations, and experiential exercises so participants can develop the skills necessary to provide psychotherapy aligned with updated APA Multicultural Guidelines and ACT strategies.
